Destination cafe off Hope St. and The Downtown Public Library. Established for the Patina Group and chef Joaquim Splichal. The ground floor design benefits from the building’s large covered plaza. Specialty furniture pieces were designed to draw people in from the street and enhance utilization of the space. A dramatic wood bench hugs the tall exterior granite wall leaving an opening for a historic church’s memorial. Large planters filled with tall bamboo sway in the breeze behind the bench softening the plaza’s hardscape. A high-top table similar in design to the wood bench anchors a plaza column providing the perfect place to see and be seen. Teak tables and seating create an elevated casual dining experience extending from the plaza to the interior. Inside, Patina Group delectables are organized along ceruse wood shelves evoking stacked grocery store crates of a timeless local market.
